The Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery is a community-built space where creativity, ecology, and belonging meet. Born from the commitment of thousands of Northlanders, it now stands as a shared space for connection between people, culture, and the environment.

Our vision is to be a place where art and ecology inspire each other, where creativity feels local and inclusive, and where everyone can see their role in shaping a better, more connected future.

Since opening our doors, we’ve been incredibly grateful for the support that’s helped shape us into one of Whangārei’s most distinctive and vibrant cultural destinations. Together we have been able to:

  • Welcome more than 215,000 local, national and international visitors.

  • Inspire 12,338 students through 21,100 hours of hands-on learning experiences.

  • Showcase the work of 53 Māori artists through the Wairau Māori Art Gallery.

  • Bring 8,036 people together through public programming, delivered in partnership with incredible local organisations.

We know the real magic happens when we work together. It’s about weaving together a collective story for our region and creating genuine partnerships that generate positive impact in our community. That’s why we’re inviting local businesses and organisations to join our new Partnership Programme.

Support the Hundertwasser Art Centre while creating meaningful value for your organisation and our wider community through these partnership pathways:

  • Community Partners ($1,000–$5,000 per year) - Support accessible public programmes and community events that bring people together.

  • Programme Partners ($5,000–$15,000 per year) - Help connect schools, whānau and community groups with ecology, architecture, and creative thinking.

  • Sustainability Partners ($10,000–$20,000 per year) - Support initiatives that demonstrate sustainable practice, ecological stewardship, and the long-term care of the Centre.
