What happens when you give a smartphone to Alternative Education tauira and ask them to capture their world?

This term, Tokotoko Alternative Education tauira stripped photography down to its purest form. With no previous experience and no fancy gear, they used the phones in their pockets to document their reality. Immersed in the landscapes and vibrant details of te taiao, these students experimented intuitively with light, focus, and framing.

This exhibition in the Activity Centre goes far beyond the lens. Every image has been intentionally chosen, titled, and narrated by the artist behind it. This is their perspective, their creativity, and their unfiltered stories.
